Brazilian defender Dani Alves is in trouble. He allegedly sexually harassed a woman in a Barcelona nightclub. Charges were filed last week, and on Friday the police came for Alves to investigate him.

Last week, the Catalan Supreme Court came out to investigate the alleged sexual assault of a woman. The charges relate to Brazilian football legend Dani Alves

“Barcelona’s investigative court number 15 has opened proceedings for the alleged crime of sexual assault due to a complaint filed by a woman against a footballer for events that allegedly happened in a Barcelona nightclub in December, ” reads an official statement from the Catalan Supreme Court.

The woman was allegedly groped under her underwear without her consent last December. She alerted the staff present, who informed the police about the matter.

By then, Alves was already in Barcelona after the World Cup in Qatar, where he made history as one of the oldest players ever to play in a World Cup. But his nomination was accompanied by dissatisfaction from fans who believed it was purely favouritism with Brazilian coach Tite.

Alves rejects all the accusations levelled against him. “I was dancing and having a good time, but I didn’t violate anyone’s space, I don’t know who the lady is,” he said in his defence.

Spanish police came for him on Friday and one of the best backs in football history will have to explain the whole incident in court.

The Brazilian is one of the legends of Barcelona football, with whom he has won six Spanish titles or the Champions League three times. He also played for Juventus and PSG. He has played 126 games for the Brazilian national team.

Since the summer, he has been playing in the Mexican UNAM Pumas, where he transferred from Barcelona, where the whole incident was supposed to take place.
