D-Day is here! What line-up will the Czech national team play against Scotland?
What we’ve been waiting five years for is finally here. The Czech Republic will play in the top tournament. Although this year’s EURO has a bit of a strange atmosphere, it is still that magical championship that, if successful, can unite the whole country.
What we’ve been waiting five years for is finally here. The Czech Republic will play in the top tournament. Although this year’s EURO has a bit of a strange atmosphere, it is still that magical championship that, if successful, can unite the whole country.
The European Championships kicked off on Friday, with Šilhavy’s men entering the tournament on Monday. And certainly not in a defeatist mood, because friendly matches are a completely different world than competitive ones. In those, our team was able to match even Belgium or England.
The Czech Republic will be challenged by Scotland at the start of the championship, followed by Croatia and then England in the last group match. The top two teams will advance directly from the group, while the top four from the third place will also go through to the eighth finals.
Which line-up will coach Jaroslav Šilhavý send to the battle against Scotland at Hampden Park?
Jiri Pavlenka, who had to withdraw from the team due to injury, has inadvertently made his selection easier. Tomáš Vaclík will surely be among the three poles.
The edges of the defence are also almost certain. On the right Vladimír Coufal, on the left Jan Bořil. The stopper is the team’s biggest question mark, because this position is the biggest weakness of the national team. Most likely Šilhavý will bet on the duo of Čelůstka – Kalas.
In midfield, the proven trio of Souček – Král – Darida will probably get a chance. Jakub Jankto will start on the left wing, Lukáš Masopust on the right. Patrik Schick will play on the top line.
If the match does not go as expected, Adam Hložek, Antonín Barák, Michael Krmenčík or Matěj Vydra will probably be introduced in the second half. In the event of a goalless draw, Tomas Holeš or Pavel Kadeřábek might come in.
Probable line-up:
Vaclik
Coufal – Čelůstka – Kalas – Bořil
Souček – Král
Masopust – Darida – Jankto
Schick
