The Czech Republic could have finished first, second and third before the last match. In the end, the last option applies, so they have to wait for their opponent in the eighth round.

The English started strongly and could have taken the lead in the second minute. Luke Shaw sent a beautiful ball from the middle of the pitch behind the defence to Raheem Sterling, Vaclik hesitated slightly on the run and Sterling’s lob ended up on the bar.

Ten minutes later, however, England could rejoice. Jack Grealish broke free on the left wing and sent a fluffy centre to the back post where Raheem Sterling finished into the empty net.

From then on, however, the Czech national team took the initiative. They tried to keep the ball more and had some promising chances, but the desired result was not forthcoming. And that’s why in the 26th minute England came again.

Harry Kane worked Harry Maguire’s through pass, hooked Tomas Kalas and finished to the back post, but Vaclik made a great save. Two minutes later the Czechs finally threatened the goal, a beautiful shot by Tomáš Holeš was deflected by Pickford for a corner.

In the 36th minute the Czechs had another chance. Jakub Jankto tried to finish off a cross from Vladimir Darida, but the ball bounced into the box to Tomas Soucek, whose attempt just missed the left post of Pickford’s goal. England went into the box with a 1:0 scoreline.

Not much happened in the second half, it was rather uninteresting football. We didn’t see any real chances, the big blemish was the yellow card of Jan Bořil, so he won’t play in the eight-final.

In the 87th minute, however, the English did get a goal. Bellingham, on the whitewash, played the ball to Henderson, who set up the ball on his left and scored, but the referee then ruled offside.

The game ended 1: 0 and with Croatia beating Scotland by 3 goals, we finish in third place.
