Karolína Muchová
A huge success for Karolina Muchova. The 81st player on the WTA rankings faced the third player on the rankings, Maria Sakkari, and it was a huge battle.
the 25-year-old Czech took the first set to a tiebreak, where she showed stronger nerves and won 7::5. The second set also had to be decided by a tiebreak, where Muchová won this time 7::4 and after 2 hours and 30 minutes advanced to the third round. There she will face Amanda Anisimova.
Katerina Siniakova
Katerina faced the 18th player on the ranking, Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez, who was unfortunately too strong for her. The 19-year-old tennis player came to victory in one hour and 13 minutes after 6: 3 and 6: 2 sets.
Petra Kvitova
Another Czech tennis player was not successful either. Petra Kvitová faced the Australian Daria Saville, but the 127th player on the WTA ranking won the match after 6: 4 and 6: 2 sets.
Jiří Veselý/Debl
Jiri Vesely says goodbye to Paris in doubles after dropping out of singles. Together with Dusan Lajovic, they couldn’t keep up with the Luke Saville/Jordan Thompson pair and lost 6::7, 5::7.
Unfortunately, Barbora Krejcikova, who was an unbeaten pair with Katerina Siniakova, had to withdraw from the women’s doubles. Barbora had a fever and subsequently tested positive for coronavirus.
