Czech talent ends up at Manchester United! Mastny will not renew his contract and will have to find a new employer
In January, he headed on a six-month loan to Northern Ireland’s Portadown, but even then he may have known that his Manchester United engagement was definitely over. Twenty-one-year-old Ondřej Mastný will be looking for a new deal in the summer, as his contract has not been renewed.
In January, he headed on a six-month loan to Northern Ireland’s Portadown, but even then he may have known that his Manchester United engagement was definitely over. Twenty-one-year-old Ondřej Mastný will be looking for a new deal in the summer, as his contract has not been renewed.
Ondřej Mastný’s life changed in the summer of 2018. The then 16-year-old Vysočina Jihlava goalkeeper moved to Manchester United, to whom he was recommended by Luděk Mikloško. United subsequently confirmed his qualities at a tournament in Northern Ireland.
Mastný signed a three-year contract and worked in the Red Devils’ youth. The contract was then extended until the summer of 2023.
However, Mastný hasn’t been playing much in United’s youth team recently, rather he has been backing up his Czech colleague Radek Vitek.
The latter is already getting chances to train with the A-team, while Mastný headed on loan to Northern Irish side Portadown in January, who were hopelessly last and the Czech goalkeeper was supposed to try and save them.
His team started to do better, even being better than four teams in their last fifteen games, but even then Portadown couldn’t be saved. Mastny had caught in nine duels.
What now? There is no return to United, because the club has decided not to renew the young goalkeeper’s contract and now it’s up to his agent to find him a new interesting engagement-
But Mastny is far from the only player the Red Devils will part with. The others are Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Ethan Galbraith and Charlie Wellens.
