Czech national team defender Tomas Petrasek could become a living legend of Raków Częstochowa! The almost two-meter tall stopper managed to win his second Polish Cup with Raków and has already extended his trophy collection with the team to 3. Last season, Petrasek and his team also won the Polish Super Cup.

Petrasek is only one scalp short in Poland! And that, of course, is winning the championship title and dominating the Ekstraklasa. Czestochowa is in the best position in the title race so far, but two teams are chasing it.

Lech Poznań, who have the same number of points, and Pogon Szczecin, who are three points behind. In the last three rounds these teams will not run into each other again, so Raków is basically in the most advantageous position. If they don’t falter even once, they are the champions!

It was against Lech Poznań that captain Tomas Petrasek led the team to win their second cup in a row. Raków defeated Lech Poznan 3:1 in the final.

Petrasek needs only one thing to go down in the football annals forever – the title. It would be the first ever in the club’s history, plus it would be the season when the club would achieve a double, and who knows if a treble would fall!

If this fairy tale comes true, the story of Raków Częstochowa could almost resemble a footballing bible story. Why? A football profile on the social network Twitter bearing the name Bielsista summed it up perfectly.

“In 2016 they played in the third league. Today they defended their Polish Cup victory and are 3 games away from winning their first ever Ekstraklasa title! Since the beginning of their rise, the team has been led by coach Marek Papszun and the biggest transfer cost them 800,000 euros.”
