He used to be one of the biggest talents in the Czech Republic, but he never really fulfilled his potential and has been struggling for the last few years. That’s why Martin Graiciar is trying to restart his career, which is really interesting. The former Fiorentina player is leaving for York United FC, based in Toronto, Canada.

The Karlovy Vary Slavia alumnus headed to Sparta Prague at the age of ten, then a year later left for Viktoria Plzen, from which he went on loan to Arsenal at the age of sixteen.

Martin Graiciar was one of the biggest talents in the Czech Republic, but after a year at Arsenal he returned to Viktoria, where he played for the youth or junior team.

Despite a six-month stint at Slovan Liberec, he then headed to Italian side Fiorentina, who bought him for €1.5 million. But the interesting thing is that a month later he returned to Liberec on loan.

He scored four goals in twelve games, but was subsequently plagued by injuries. He spent the next years in Fiorentina, Sparta and Mladá Boleslav, but he didn’t make many appearances due to injuries.

Graiciar is now a free agent and has decided to move to Canada, where he will play for Toronto club York United.

This is a rather interesting choice, but Graiciar needs to catch on somewhere. Let’s hope that he will make a name for himself in Canada and we will hear more about him.
