Czech expert on Seville? The Europa League champions have only been relegated twice since 2014 and twice it was Tomas Soucek’s fault

Sevilla is considered the frontrunner for the second most prestigious European competition, called the Europa League. The Andalusian side has won the EL 4 times since the 2013/14 season. In 2017, 2018 and 2021, Sevilla missed out on the competition as they played the millionaire Champions League. Anyway, there is one name they don’t like to hear very much in Sevilla and that is Tomas Soucek.

The world’s media is taking notice of an unprecedented fact. Sevilla have been knocked out twice in recent years by a Czech expert named Tomas Soucek. In 2019, the Czech national team captain asserted himself against Sevillistas Rojiblancos in Eden and his goal was also part of the fairytale puzzle that marked the sensational progress of Slavia over the clear favourite.

Approximately 3 years later, Souček is again instrumental in Sevilla’s elimination! His West Ham brought back a deficit from Andalusia, the opening game the Hammers lost 0:1.

But in the eighth-final rematch played at the London Stadium, the Czech forward, who Sevilla fans remember very well from 2019, scored again in the 39th minute.

The game went into extra time, just like in Eden, with Ukrainian Andriy Yarmolenko deciding West Ham’s progress.

The Czech national captain was one of the best players of the match against Sevilla. The prestigious statistics site WhoScored even saw him as the man of the match. “Do you want to knock Sevilla out of the EL? Get Tomáš Souček.”

the 27-year-old defensive midfielder tweeted happily after the move. “I will never forget this night. We are still on our sensational Europa League journey. Thank you to our fans for the fantastic support.”
