West Ham’s match with Everton didn’t offer the most attractive spectacle. In the clash between the two dark horses of the competition, the only regular goal was scored by the Hammer Angelo Ogbonna.
It was also a big game for Tomáš Souček. First, he scored from a goal, but his joy was spoiled by a close offside, then in the second half he was hit in the face by a kick and had to make an early substitution.
Photographers caught one more interesting thing, a printed bottle of Jordan Pickford. On it was a detailed analysis of West Ham’s penalties since the start of last season.
Of the eight attempts, Mark Noble, Michail Antonio and Declan Rice converted five, each missing once. The pictures show that Rice kicked his penalties to the left, while five of the other six went to the right.
Aaron Ramsdale has been boasting some excellent performances since his move to Arsenal. Although his season at Sheffield last year didn’t go well at all, he has performed well in north London, benching number one Bernd Leno.
In Monday’s Premier League Round 8 replay, Arsenal made up a one-goal deficit late in the game and Ramsdale helped to equalise in the 95th minute. He put the ball in after two clearances from the opponents outside the area and became the first goalkeeper this season to throw in two clearances in one game.
