Sidney Crosby is still showing his extravagance at the age of 36, helping Pittsburgh beat Columbus 5-3 in their last game.
First, Crosby opened the scoring in the opening period. Then he contributed to Jake Guentzel’s equalizing goal for 2:2. And he saved the other two goals for the last five minutes of the game.
In Columbus vs. Pittsburgh (3:5) he not only scored a hat trick, but it was his 13th in the regular season. The Canadian hockey player scored his 38th four-point game of his career!
His third goal of the game was also the 560th goal of the season, putting him tied with Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur for 27th place on the all-time scorers’ list.
Crosby stretched his point streak to nine games in a row, scoring 14 points (7 goals and 7 assists). He is already attacking the top 10 in scoring this season. He is currently in 14th place with 19 points in 14 games with 10 goals and 9 assists. He is the most productive player for the Penguins.
Letang hits the 700 point mark
Kris Letang notched an assist on Crosby’s first goal and it was point number 699. He’s on pace to surpass a milestone that only 28 defensemen have managed to surpass in NHL history.
He may have lost some time on the power play with the arrival of Erik Karlsson, but he hasn’t lost any of his skill.
