Crosby continues to rise through the ranks with historic stats, Jamie Benn already second in Stars club scoring
Pittsburgh’s captain Sidney Crosby continues to climb through the historical stats, this time surpassing Mark Recchi, while Dallas’ Jamie Benn is already the second most productive player in Stars history behind the legendary Mike Modano.

Crosby already ranks 13th in historical stats in points
In the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Minnesota Wild (4:3), the home captain scored a goal and an assist and jumped up the NHL’s historical scoring charts once again. He is currently on pace for 1,535 regular season points on 568 goals scored and 967 assists.
Pittsburgh led for almost the entire game. When the Wild tied the game, the Penguins captain scored the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of the third period. Evgeni Malkin also scored in the game, and interestingly enough, if both Crosby and Malkin score in the same game, it almost certainly means a win for the Pittsburgh team. It has happened in 104 of 119 games.
This breaks away from Mark Recchi and moves him into 13th place in the historical stats. He is now just 3 points behind the 12th ranked Canadian Joe Thornton. He is also just 5 shots shy of tying Mike Bossy for 22nd on the historical scorers chart.
Crosby continues to be one of the players who collect at least a point per game this season. In 30 games played this season, he has scored 33 points. And virtually every other game this season from his side can mean a shift in the historical tables.
Jamie Benn second most productive player in Stars history
In the Dallas Stars vs. Seattle Kraken (4:3) game after overtime. Jamie Benn recorded an assist on Thomas Harley’s winning goal at 62:16. It was number 868. And from a Minnesota/Dallas Stars historical standpoint, it meant moving into second place in the club’s historical tables ahead of Neal Broten.
And that’s right behind club legend and Hall of Fame member Mike Modano. But he will hold the club record for a very long time. For the Minnesota/Dallas Stars he managed to accumulate 1359 points. And he is the most productive American player in NHL history.
Anyway, the Canadian player who won the scoring in the 2014/15 season surprisingly won the whole league. That is to say, he won the Art Ross Trophy for the scoring winner, with just 87 points in the regular season. Just for the record, for most of this season, the scoring was also led by Czech player who has put his career on hold for the time being, Jakub Voracek. With this, Jamie Benn has written his name in gold in the annals of the Stars organization.
