Croatia will face Scotland on Tuesday for a possible third place. Both teams have only one point so far and will need at least three to qualify. Who will take the all-important win?
Croatia will face Scotland on Tuesday for a possible third place. Both teams have only one point so far and will need at least three to qualify. Who will take the all-important win?
Croatia are still looking. After the 0:1 loss to England, it has received a lot of criticism and did not even earn plus points in the match against the Czech Republic, in which it only drew 1:1. So they need a win to advance, ideally by at least two goals.
The Scots are in the same situation. They fell to the Czech Republic in their first game, then won a valuable point in the derby against England. They are one goal worse off than the Croatians, so if they want to move on from third place, they need to win by as much as possible.
If anyone in the Croatia camp can be praised, it’s definitely Josko Guardiola. The young defender put in an excellent performance against the Czech Republic, as did his colleague on the left, Ivan Perisic.
The left side was also excellent for Scotland against England, with Kieran Tierney and Andrew Robertson confirming that they are among the best in their position. Midfielder Billy Gilmour also gave a good performance.
The Croatians are not good against the Scots, they have never been able to beat them (0-3-2). On the other hand, the Scots are not doing well at all, winning only two of their last nine games (2-4-3).
Given the experience with similar matches, I think the Croats will not lose. Therefore, I recommend betting on them not to lose, with the odds dropping to 1 if the match ends in a draw.
