Cristiano Ronaldo to AC or Inter? Forget it, the main issue is still money. How much is the Portuguese star asking for?
The summer transfer window hasn’t been ideal for Cristiano Ronaldo so far. The Portuguese star has already expressed his desire to leave Manchester United, but that is still not happening. In fact, his services have already been rejected by several clubs, including both Milan giants, according to the latest information. The main problem is Ronaldo’s huge salary.
A few hours ago Eurosport came up with the information that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offered his services to both Milan giants – AC and Inter.
It’s no secret that Ronaldo simply wants to play in the Champions League. Thus, a return to Italy’s Serie A seemed like the ideal alternative. However, neither of the clubs showed any interest in the 37-year-old Ronaldo.
The Madeira native still cannot find a club willing to pay him such a huge wage. This was the main problem in the case of a potential move to Milan. Ronaldo is simply too expensive.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reports that the reigning champion and his biggest rival was contacted by Mendes himself between late June and early July. Ronaldo was considering the possibility of returning to Italy because he was intrigued by the idea of living in Milan and playing in the Champions League at the San Siro.
Ronaldo’s wages are unacceptable
However, any chance of a transfer soon evaporated because of Ronaldo’s net wage. This amounts to €24 million a year, a sum that AC and Inter could not accept. To make matters worse, neither of the Milanese outfits would have access to tax benefits, as Ronaldo is no longer a permanent resident in Italy after leaving Juventus.
This would therefore mean that the total cost of Ronaldo’s annual salary would be around €45 million. This is indeed a huge amount, not only for AC or Inter Milan.
In recent times, Ronaldo has also been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon or a move to Chelsea or Atlético Madrid. However, as in the case of the Milan clubs, these negotiations ended rather quickly.
Ronaldo thus remains a Manchester United player for the time being and it is unclear whether he will be able to leave the currently last Premier League club in this transfer window at all.
