Manchester United drew 2-2 with Atalanta in the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo helped his team a lot by scoring both goals and saving the Red Devils from defeat.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Cristiano Ronaldo has the same influence on Manchester United as NBA star Michael Jordan has on the Chicago Bulls. In the last game, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals that brought a draw with Atalanta in the Champions League.
Ilicic sent Atalanta into the lead in the 12th minute, the equalizer came in the first-half stoppage time from Ronaldo’s free-kicks. In the 56th minute, Atalanta regained the lead when Zapata scored, but Ronaldo struck again in the 91st minute to level the match at 2-2.
Ronaldo is doing well in the Champions League and for the second time he saved Manchester United in the last minutes of the game. Solskjaer compares Ronaldo’s individual brilliance, which he uses to cover up the team’s cracks, to Michael Jordan, who became a six-time NBA champion.
”Everyone on the team has roles and responsibilities. Ronaldo is the leader of the team and his main job is scoring goals, ” Solskjaer told reporters.
”We got two goals, which didn’t bring us joy. But Ronaldo gave us an advantage like, for example, Michael Jordan in Chicago. Having players like that in your team almost makes you champions. You just have to go for it.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has not had a full pre-season with Manchester United, yet he has scored nine goals for his team, five of which have come in the Champions League. According to Solskjaer, the Red Devils’ manager, he is improving all the time.
Ronaldo has already turned 36 this year, but that age is no barrier to him continuing to play at the highest level and deliver fantastic performances.
