Is Ronaldo’s return to Italy imminent? There is currently a big question mark over this, as it is still mostly speculation, but the fact remains that José Mourinho wants to bring him to Rome. Will Ronaldo move to AS?

Cristiano Ronaldo could be looking for a new signing in the summer transfer window, as he doesn’t quite fit the playing style and tactics of new United coach Erik ten Hag.

In fact, the Dutch coach himself hinted at this not too long ago. And he also noted that he is going to make a small revolution in Manchester. After eight years, Juan Mata is leaving the Red Devils, and Paul Pogba will not defend United’s colours next season.

However, Manchester United are expected to make a lot more changes and one of them concerns Ronaldo. According to Football Italia, AS Roma, led by Mourinho, are interested in the Portuguese legend.

The aforementioned La Repubblica, on the other hand, claims that Ronaldo will not be looking for a new club among the best European sides. This means that he could take advantage of an offer from a club that will use his experience and personality as a springboard to greater success.

The issue that could stall a move to a Roman club is Ronaldo’s wages. Although the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, who has an excellent relationship with the Romans, would not only not have to make high demands, but above all, the former Real or Juventus footballer could be tempted by the tax advantages Rome offers.

It should be noted, Ronaldo and Mourinho did not exactly part on good terms, especially after Mourinho’s departure in 2013 after a three-year stint at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, however, spent three years in Serie A between 2018 and 2021. During that period, he enjoyed winning the Scudetto twice and lifting the Coppa Italia winner’s trophy over his head once.

As we wrote above, a potential return to Italy, specifically a commitment to the AS organisation, is still a big speculation, of which there will be plenty of in the summer period, by the way.
