Countries that have already secured qualification for EURO 2024

We have another double-match in the EURO 2024 qualification. In some groups, the qualifiers have already been decided, while in others the battle will be fought at the end of November. But for now, let’s take a look at the teams that have already secured promotion.

Spain

The Spaniards have left nothing to chance in Group A. They may have underestimated the Scots in the first match and lost to them, but they were fully focused on the second match and it looked like it. So far in their last qualifying match they managed to nullify Erling Haaland and co. and with a 1: 0 win condemned Norway to non-advancement.

Scotland

They came into the qualifiers like big water, beating Spain, Norway and other teams. Scott McTominay in particular was on a tear. Their first loss came against Spain in October when a goal by a Manchester United midfielder was disallowed for offside.

They need not be sorry, however, because Norway’s loss to Spain means they are assured of qualification for a second successive EURO with 15 points.

France

The champions can’t imagine any other option than qualification. A country that would be able to field almost three competitive teams. Kylian Mbappé secured his country’s progression with two goals against the Netherlands, who will have to fight to the end with Greece from a distance to qualify.

France left nothing to chance in qualifying, winning all six of their matches with a score of 13-1. So in November Didier Deschamps will be able to give his biggest stars the night off.

England

At the beginning of September, England seemed to have made qualification difficult with a 1-1 draw with Ukraine. However, the players disproved all those theories in their only qualifying match in October.

They gave Italy no chance and after two goals from Harry Kane, joined by Marcus Rashford, England won 3-1 and secured qualification for the final tournament. Among other things, they still haven’t lost in qualifying, a great showing in a group with reigning European champions Italy and unpredictable Ukraine.

Turkey

If we were to place a bet on the first certain qualifying country from Group D before the qualifiers started, most of us would have chosen Croatia. It was against the Croats that the Turks notched their only loss in qualifying.

Minus a minor wobble with Armenia in the form of a draw, Turkey won their next five matches and are celebrating early qualification with sixteen points. Thirteen goals in seven games were enough to celebrate, four of which they scored in their last game against the helpless Latvians.

Belgium

Playing without Kevin de Bruyne in most of their games, they still managed to do well. Romelu Lukaku is the top scorer of the entire qualification with ten goals. After last year’s World Cup, the team took a few hits, changed the coach, rotated the team and it’s working again.

They didn’t know defeat in the group with Sweden and Austria. You could say they secured promotion in a dry spell. Unfortunately, their match against Sweden was not played because of the terrorist attack in the streets of Brussels.

Austria

The Austrians are also celebrating their progress from Group F. They only lost points to the aforementioned Belgium in qualifying. Our neighbour was able to cope with the absence of David Alaba and beat Azerbaijan, thus definitively securing qualification.

This will be the third European championship in a row that Austria will not miss. It will probably be the last chance for Alaba and Arnautovic to prove something with the national team at the European Championships. Austria’s top scorer in the qualification, which is not yet over, is Marcel Sabitzer, who scored four goals.

Portugal

Eight games, eight wins, a score of 32:2, a sure qualification for the final championship, which the Portuguese have not missed since 1996. It will surprise no one that Cristiano Ronaldo is the team’s top scorer with nine goals, while Bruno Fernandes has five goals, a magnificent eight assists and is the best passer of the qualification.

Slovakia came closest to taking points from Portugal in a 3-2 defeat in Porto, while the Slovaks were the only team to score a goal against Portugal.

In addition to the eight teams mentioned above, home team Germany is also assured of qualification. The remaining places will be decided at the end of November in the qualifying round. Four additional participants will emerge from the Nations League. We will be surprised if any major football nation will be missing from the final championship.
