Vladimír Coufal is not having his best days. At the weekend, his West Ham lost 0:3 to Manchester United. The Czech international also unintentionally injured Lisandro Martínez and is taking a beating from the Red Devils fans.

The game at Old Trafford and the battle for sixth place in the Premier League. It is exactly for such duels that Vladimir Coufal transferred to West Ham to compare himself with the best.

He earned a place in the starting line-up almost immediately. And his performances earned him the favour of the fans and the respect of the opposition. Since Sunday, however, he has been enemy number one for Manchester United fans in the Isles.

It’s not really his fault. In the 71st minute of the Old Trafford game, he fell unintentionally and unfortunately injured Lisandro Martínez, who had to be substituted. The Argentine stopper had only just returned from a three-month injury in mid-January.

Coufal is under fire from Red Devils fans

And that has angered Red Devils fans. They flooded the Czech international’s Instagram and Twitter profiles with rather harsh insults. “Better sleep with one eye open. We’ll come for you,” was one of the messages.

The comments are full of death threats and unkind messages. Many fans are wishing Coufal injury and saying it will be karma. In their opinion, he hurt Martínez on purpose.

So the 31-year-old right-back preferred to lock his Instagram. So that strangers who don’t follow him can’t get to his profile to comment on his posts or send him any messages. In all likelihood, Coufal was getting much worse messages just in private messages.

Immediately after the incident Coufal was substituted and the day after the game he probably doesn’t have a completely calm mind. Very soon, however, he will have to switch his focus back to football, as his Hammers have a game against second-placed Arsenal on Sunday.
