Vladimír Coufal is out of West Ham’s starting eleven due to a groin injury, but his unshakable position is slightly weakening. The replacement in Ben Johnson is working for now and the Czech defender will not have an easy return to the line-up. Despite this fact, the Czech national team can be very happy with West Ham!

The Hammers are doing well in the Premier League and the Europa League, they beat Tottenham 1-0 in the London derby and after 9 rounds they are in a sensational 4th place in the table. Czech national team captain Tomáš Souček played the whole match.

Both Vladimír Coufal and Alex Král were missing on the substitutes’ bench. The former due to an ongoing injury, defensive midfielder Král is still in quarantine.

Ben Johnson, only 21 years old, played on the right flank, the prestigious server rated him with a very good mark of 7.38 and his performance was appreciated on Twitter by the fans.

“He is as good as Coufal. We can’t take him out when he’s fit, he’s played 3 games this week and looks like he’s been playing for years, ” reads a comment on one of the bigger West Ham fan sites.

“We haven’t scored a single goal in the games Johnson has played,” notes the biggest Hammers fan site.

Coufal clearly has new and young competition, but the Czech international has built a strong position at the club. If he can get himself right, David Moyes will definitely give him a chance.

Tomas Soucek’s performance

Tomas Soucek certainly doesn’t have to worry about his position, he is still playing in the starting line-up and the team is successful. Against Tottenham, he earned a 6.82 rating from WhoScored.

Over the course of the match, the Czech midfielder had 57 touches of the ball, made two key passes and finished twice, but always inaccurately.

His passes were 80% successful and he won the most header duels of any West Ham player (3).
