Coufal about the match in Baku: I don’t understand what UEFA had to get for that. What did Coufal understand? Like sprinkling your garden at home
Vladimír Coufal is not afraid to criticize UEFA, the organization that organizes the European Championship. It bothers him that the Czech national team had to play the quarter-final match in Baku, which is not even on European soil. Moreover, he was not even satisfied with the stadium and the pitch.

The Czech national football team finished in the quarter-finals of the Euro when they failed to beat Denmark. The majority of society was satisfied with the performance of the national team.
However, the highlight of the championship was Baku. The capital of Azerbaijan hosted several matches, including the Czech Republic’s match against Denmark.
In an interview with iSport, right-back Vladimír Coufal complained about this, and was not afraid to lean on the UEFA organisation itself.
“The idea of playing in Baku was a terrible stupidity. Playing the European Championship in Asia, Czech Republic-Denmark in Baku, a match that absolutely nobody in Azerbaijan was interested in… I don’t know who could have thought of this. I don’t know, I don’t understand what UEFA must have got for that. It is unbelievable that someone could do this,” Coufal said.
However, it was not only the location of the match that bothered him, but also the stadium itself and the quality of the turf on which the match was played.
“Every time I went behind the line to get the ball before the car, I had to run twenty, thirty metres behind the athletics track. The turf was totally crazy. I don’t understand, they put a quarter-final in Baku and there’s no proper pitch. It’s like when you sprinkle your garden at home and go and play on it,” he added.
