Early Sunday morning, at 2:00 a.m. sharp, we will see the final match of this year’s Copa América tournament. It will be between old rivals Argentina and Brazil. The latter is the favourite, but it will not be easy. How will the match play out and what should you bet on?

The legendary Maracana in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, will host the 47th Copa América final between Argentina and Brazil early on Sunday morning.

It was in this stadium that Brazil won their last title in 2019, beating Peru 3-1 in the final. Even now, according to the bookmakers, it is the favourite to win the trophy.

But Argentina is playing solidly at this championship, and what’s more, this year the Lionel Messi factor is more than ever. He is uncompromisingly the best player of the tournament so far, being the top scorer and passer (4 goals, 5 assists).

What’s more? Lautaro Martinez is also scoring three goals and is the second top scorer.

The Argentines are doing great so far. They drew 1-1 with Chile in the first round. After that, they won one game after another, until the semi-final against Colombia was decided by penalties.

There is a great cohesion in the team and even greater motivation to win the national trophy for Messi. That could play a huge role in the final.

And how is Brazil actually doing? It has only lost points in the whole championship in a 1-1 draw with Ecuador, but otherwise it is quite sovereign. Neymar, unsurprisingly, has been the driving force with two goals and three assists.

The statistics speak in Brazil’s favour. Since 1919, the Copa América has been held in Brazil five times and the Canaries have always won the tournament, and they have not lost 26 matches on home soil.

The Argentines have one less day to recover than their opponents. However, they have been waiting 28 years for a trophy from this tournament and their team is very strong, so they must be very hungry for success.

Argentina, however, have never beaten Brazil on home soil. They have only drawn once and fallen five times. Messi, however, will not be willing to let them lose their fourth final of the tournament.

A very attractive and, above all, tough fight for the trophy can be expected. In this century alone, on average in Copa América finals, referees have drawn over 6 yellow cards per game.

And it is the bet on the number of yellow cards that will definitely pay off now. But it is definitely worth the risk to bet on Argentina to win, the odds of 3.75 do not correspond too closely to reality and offer the possibility of an interesting profit despite the smaller amount bet.
