In Tallinn, Estonia, the Czech Republic was represented in the first round of the WTA250 tournament four times. Karolína Muchová, Tereza Martincová and Barbora Krejčíková made it straight to the main draw. Linda Noskova also qualified.
All four girls made it through their opening duels and the fourfold Czech participation was preserved for the second round.
Barbora Krejčíková advanced from there. She defeated Kostyukova yesterday evening. The opening set had to be reversed when Barbora was already 0:3 down. The final result of the match was 7:5 and 6:3.
Krejcikova’s opponent for the quarterfinals will be Haddad Maia from Brazil, who did not let Linda Noskova go any further.
The Czech lost the first set clearly 1::6. Although the second set was much more even, it still ended in Linda’s disadvantage 5: 7.
It was a great experience for the still 17 years old Nosková and she is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, on the contrary. The Brazilian is world number 15 and she is playing excellent tennis at the absolute highest level this year.
Muchova is also celebrating her promotion to the top 8. She took the Swiss Golubic 6::4, 0::6 and 2::6. In the quarter-finals, Muchova will face the host Kanepi.
Anett Kontaveit, the world number three, gave an absolutely dominant performance against Martincova. Unfortunately, she demolished the Czech 6: 2, 6: 1.
