There may well be a coaching change at Old Trafford. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the chair is shaking after the 0:5 debacle with Liverpool, and he could be replaced by Italian strategist Antonio Conte.

When Manchester United’s icon Solskjaer came on the bench, many fans felt the ghost of Sir Alex Ferguson. After a great start, there was a bit of a decline, but with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, the Red Devils took off and finished a respectable second in the Premier League last season.

So in the summer, Solskjaer was given a proper arsenal of firepower to climb up one more rung. Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. But United’s play and results have been lacking.

It all culminated in an embarrassing 0-5 home drubbing by the hated Liverpool. There’s a good chance Solskjaer won’t be able to stop that.

So there is speculation about two names to replace him. Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte. United would especially need a kick up the backside at the moment, as they have games against Tottenham, Atalanta and Manchester City.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte would be open to negotiations with Manchester United if he were approached. The Italian coach won the Serie A title with Inter Milan last season, but left the club after a disagreement with the management over money and is without a contract.

He already has experience of English football, having led London Chelsea to the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.

Romano further stated that the Manchester United management will decide on Solskjaer’s future in the coming hours or days. The Norwegian coach has always been protected until now, but now his position is very uncertain.
