MMA as a sport is constantly evolving, Conor McGregor fans know him and know what he is about, however many of them have never actually seen him fight. In fact, the experienced Irishman last appeared in the cage in the summer of 2021.
That’s when he fell for the second straight time to Dustin Poirier when he badly broke his leg. McGregor had planned a quick comeback after his recovery, but for a number of reasons that didn’t happen.
Thus, many have begun to speculate on whether we will ever see him in the UFC again. The organization tried to coax him, but you simply can’t pull Conor on the money because he’s guaranteed for life.
In the end, though, the UFC got it right. McGregor made a movie called Road House and at his press conference he spoke out about his MMA future. According to him, he’ll be back this summer!
McGregor on returning to the UFC
“We had a call a few days ago and I can reveal that everything is in process. Conor McGregor will return to the UFC this summer. His opponent will be Michael Chandler. I’ll have to shut him up.
I actually like Chandler, but I’m gonna have to chop him up. I’m glad it’s finally done and clearly set. The call with management went great, so I’m excited,” McGregor said.
Everything has yet to be confirmed by the UFC and there is still plenty of time for things to go wrong, but fans have hope that has been lacking. The question is what kind of form the Irishman will return with after a long layoff.
