Conor McGregor is recovering from a serious injury after badly breaking his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier. But the Irishman hasn’t given up and has been training hard, he would like to get back in the octagon soon and it seems he has already found his opponent. On social media he has agreed a deal with Russian Peter Yan.

In July, Conor McGregor succumbed to Dustin Poirier in their third fight together, the reason being an essentially uncaused injury to the Irish fighter.

In fact, McGregor badly broke his leg while stepping on it, so he was facing a long layoff. It was expected that he would not fight again until the end of the year, but the rehabilitation is going well and the Irishman has already found a new opponent.

Sure, Poirier would be next, whose next rematch would interest a huge number of people, however McGregor has arranged the fight on social media.

“No one within the UFC is even close to me in this business. Even Dustin hit me hard just because I had a bloody leg. I would put all of them in my pocket within boxing. Yan is pretty good at this though, you have to hand it to him,” the popular MMA fighter wrote on social media.

Russian Peter Yan seized on that and replied. “Conor, we all know how much you like to talk, but let’s cut to the chase. If you want to put it in boxing or you’re in the mood for a fight in general, I honestly don’t care what weight it is or what the rules are. But I bet you’re not going to go for it.”

Of course, the Irishman was quick to respond. “Well that’s hilarious. We can arrange sparring or something in the near future. I’ll be happy to host you and the whole team in Ireland for an event at our Crumlin Boxing Club. I’m sure we’ll work something out, kid. God bless you.”

So it looks like we might be seeing their fight soon. However, McGregor teases like this on social media fairly regularly, so there is also the possibility that they won’t meet.
