Things didn’t go well for Viktoria Plzeň at first in the match against Karabakh. Filip Ozobić opened the scoring in the 38th minute, while the West Germans did not produce a single shot on the Azerbaijani goal during the first half.
However, the second half was much better for the Victorians, as they managed to turn the game around to 2-1 thanks to goals from Jan Kopic and Jan Kliment.
Plzeň is now being praised by fans from all over the Czech Republic for qualifying for the group stage. At least that is what the Facebook profile of Viktoria shows, where a lot of positive comments appeared under the final result.
Reactions from fans
Jan Svoboda, for example, said in the comments on Viktoria Plzeň’s profile. Congratulations to the fans and the club. Nice football.”
His words are then complemented by fan Vojtěch Puha, who in his comments also alludes to the Champions League group stage draw. “Great, congratulations from Pardubice. Now we have to qualify Slavia and Slovácko. I wish attractive opponents in the draw and good luck in the group stage.”
Petr Smolej made a very emotional statement. Before the Champions League I thought that Plzen would win the first preliminary round and go out of the round. That kicked my ass! Nice work and hats off to you! I wish you 3rd place and continuation in the spring cups, you deserve it. For a coefficient you are doing the first last, perfect job! Enjoy the progress.”
As we write above, congratulations are coming from all different parts of the Czech Republic. There were also several comments from Karabakh fans on the Facebook profile. They mostly acknowledged the defeat, and that Pilsen was simply the better team.
“Well, dudes from Pilsen, you deserved it! I send a big congratulations from Pardubice. It doesn’t matter that you beat us recently, but now you represented Czech club football perfectly! Keep it up and make a big hole in the Champions League, you guys have the squad for it,” added another Pardubice fan.
A Spartan fan Zrůst Ondřej, who also referred to the current owner of Sparta Prague in his commentary, also had words of praise. “Huge congratulations from Spartan. Šádek should teach how to successfully lead the club to the Champions League and the title. Křetínský should be the first pupil. Congratulations again.”
On the profile of Viktoria Plzeň one can find many, many similar comments, besides the above mentioned also from fans of Baník, Bohemians, Slovácko, Teplice, Brno, Liberec or Trinec.
” I read the comments and my hat is off to the fans of the other teams, especially from Prague. It really shows that we are a nation and we can stick together. Now let’s just keep our fingers crossed for Slovácko and Slavia to pull it off on Thursday and move Czech football higher.”
