Concerned in Italy! The union wants all first and second league players to be vaccinated, most don’t even have the first dose
The Italian Football Federation has a clear and quite understandable goal. But it is not quite close to being achieved. The motivation is obvious, to avoid postponing matches or spreading coronavirus. Will everything be in place before the start of the season?
The Italian Football Federation has a clear and quite understandable goal. But it is not quite close to being achieved. The motivation is obvious, to avoid postponing matches or spreading coronavirus. Will everything be in place before the start of the season?
In just a month’s time, the new Italian Serie A season will kick off, but the football federation doesn’t have much reason to rejoice.
The FIGC, which is the acronym of the Italian federation, wants to introduce a compulsory coronavirus vaccination for all players in the first and second highest leagues, i.e. Serie A and Serie B.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the FICC is trying to get all players to have the vaccination before the start of the season, but apparently that is not entirely realistic.
The only thing that is certain for now is that the Italian national players who participated in the Euros will certainly get their vaccinations. Fiorentina, AS Roma and Sampdoria Genoa have already started vaccinations, Lazio and several other clubs are still considering it.
The current situation is not very flattering. In fact, the number of players who have not yet received even the first dose of the vaccine prevails.
This may be the reason why Spezia, for example, is now facing problems with the coronavirus, where 10 members of the squad, including the management team, have tested positive.
At the same time, the FIGC only wants to avoid situations such as the one Spezia is now having to deal with, or postponements of matches, which are very disruptive to the course of competitions and can be said to have a negative impact on regularity.
It is not surprising, therefore, that there is a great deal of concern in the federation.
