Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table after the win over Leicester and has a one-point lead over second-placed Arsenal. However, the London side is yet to play its match when it challenges Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 30.

The only goal for the Citizens was scored by Belgian star De Bruyne in the 49th minute, whose shot from a direct kick really suited him.

The fans were not treated to another goal in this match, although there were plenty of solid opportunities.

But coach Guardiola was certainly worried about Haaland’s absence before the game. In fact, the dreaded Norwegian sharpshooter could not make it to the duel with Leicester due to injury. Haaland picked up the injury on Tuesday night during City’s goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund.

Guardiola had already decided to withdraw Haaland from the game at half-time in that Champions League match as he suffered a leg injury and was also battling a fever.

The Marca daily then came out with the information that the Norwegian striker has recovered from the fever, but the leg injury still remained a problem. Thus, it was only after the last pre-match training session that coach Guardiola was deciding whether or not to actually include him in the squad.

In the end, the Spanish fifty-one-year-old coach decided not to field Haaland in the match against Leicester. Instead, he sent on Julian Álvarez, who was replaced by Phil Foden in the 77th minute. But as we wrote above, the Citizens were not troubled by the absence of their number 1 striker.

However, according to the latest information, he should be ready to start the next game. Haaland, after his arrival, has played 16 games for City across all competitions and has scored 22 goals.

And he has added three assists on top of that. Needless to say, Haaland is predicted to have a big future. He is also very likely to break the Premier League record for most goals scored in a single season. And that’s in his debut season.
