Colorado easily beat Edmonton 5:1 last night. The visitors rested their top stars and came to the game with only 3 lines. The Avalanche on the other hand put up their star player, Nathan MacKinnon recorded 2 assists.

The Avalanche came into the game more active. After half a minute, the bar rang twice behind Skinner’s back. A minute later, a hot arena got a goal. Lehkonen found Nichushkin with a cross, who fired a shot into the net.

Another four minutes later, the crowd was even happier. After pressure in the offensive zone, Rantanen took a shot from the right circle and sent a shot over the shoulder of a kneeling Skinner to give the home team a two-goal lead.

Colorado then had a power play, which they used in the eighth minute of the first period. MacKinnon’s millimeter pass found the stick of Nichushkin in the crease, who scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-0.

The home team was again responsible for the next goal. Midway through the period, Manson fired a shot from the blue line. The shot sailed through a cluster of players in front of Skinner and into the net without missing a beat.

The power play was not wasted by the visitors. Broberg’s shot in front of the net was intercepted by Holloway to make it 1:4. Edmonton had a glimmer of hope to turn the tide.

Parise closed the scoring midway through the game. Colton set up a great shooting position with a pass from behind the net and the American veteran beat the already substituting Pickard. The rest of the game didn’t offer anything interesting and Colorado ended the regular season with a win.

In the first round of the playoffs, Colorado will face Winnipeg and Edmonton will play Los Angeles. Will McDavid be able to lead his team to the coveted Stanley Cup or will he prove once again that 2 players are not enough for the playoffs? We will find out in the next month and a half.
