Coefficient: Slavie’s unnecessary loss is a big complication, it would take a quarterfinal to get and knock out PAOK
Slavia advanced to the quarterfinals of the Conference Europa League, but losing a 3-1 lead could be crucial for the future of Czech football. The Czech Republic is losing ground in its quest for 15th place in the international coefficient table guaranteeing five European Cup qualification places. Who is giving it problems?
Slavia have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Conference Europa League, but losing a 3-1 lead could be crucial for the future of Czech football. The Czech Republic is losing ground in its quest for 15th place in the international coefficient table, guaranteeing five places in the European Cup qualifiers. Who is giving it problems?
Fifteenth place is held by Greece, as it was a week ago. PAOK also won the return leg at Ghent and recorded two more important points for their league. Currently, the Greek Superliga has 28.2 points and any further success for PAOK is shared by four, as the Greek league had only four representatives in the qualifiers this year.
Czech Republic regrets the loss of Slavia. The Sešiovans were still ahead in the 87th minute, but after a red card for Srdjan Plavsic they went down to nine, scored twice and eventually lost 3: 4. The ending was very nervous, but Linz could not make a definitive turnaround.
The Czech Republic is 0.6 points behind fifteenth-placed Greece, which is one win and one draw. However, every additional point for PAOK will be a big problem, especially when the Czech Republic divides its gain by five.
Theoretically, the Norwegians can still think about the fifteenth place. Bodo/Glimt got past Alkmaar after extra time and continue to amaze the whole of Europe.
Norway is 1.45 points behind Greece. That’s three wins, or two wins, which would give them two more points to reach the semi-finals. So the Norwegian team is a force to be reckoned with, having knocked out Celtic and the aforementioned Alkmaar on the way to the top eight.
On the other hand, the Turks (Galatasaray fell to Barcelona) and the Danes (Copenhagen lost 0:4 to Eindhoven in the rematch) are out of the picture. Let’s not forget the possibility that UEFA will disqualify all Russian clubs due to the war in Ukraine. In such a case, the 16th member of the ranking would have five places in the qualification assured.
