Coach Solskjaer is planning changes! What player departures are on the table?
Manchester United are not having a happy period, neither in terms of games nor results. Coach Solskjaer is willing to part with five players!
Manchester United are not having a happy season, with performances and points falling short of expectations. Red Devils coach Solskjaer may shuffle the cards in the winter and part with five players!
For the last three league games, Manchester United fans and players have not known the taste of victory. First they had to accept a 0:1 defeat at home to Aston Villa. Then, again at home, they got a point against Everton for a 1-1 draw. Last time they left Leicester City empty-handed after a 2:4 result.
The Sun reports that the Red Devils coach is considering a winter shake-up of the current squad. He also directly names possible candidates for departure to other teams. Which players are they going to be?
Donny van de Beek’s name won’t surprise anyone too much. The 24-year-old midfielder, who shone in an Ajax jersey before his arrival in England, never got a proper chance at Manchester United. Due to his lack of playing experience, his performances can never reach the level of his earlier days.
Twenty-five year old Anthony Martial is not impressing Manchester United fans either. With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo further marginalising his role in the squad, rumours are that if an appropriate offer comes in for him in the January transfer window, he will be allowed to start his career elsewhere.
Stoper Victor Lindelöf was one of the chosen ones to receive the coach’s trust in the last game against Leicester City. Of course, one cannot draw any conclusions based on one loss, but the Swede has been heavily criticized by football experts or former United players before. Lindelöf’s high salary also doesn’t suggest much of a substitute role.
The fourth in the bunch, according to the Sun, is Phil Jones. Perhaps United’s most unpopular player is currently nursing a knee injury, but he cannot be expected to get a bigger role on the pitch after his past performances.
Perhaps the most surprising name on the list is Jesse Lingard. He was one of West Ham’s best players last season, where he decided to leave to kick-start his career.
After returning to Manchester, he did make a last-minute breakthrough against the Hammers and secured three points for his new employer, but otherwise he is statistically underachieving due to lack of confidence in the coach.
Will we see a rebuilding of United’s squad or will we see a change in the coaching position?
