Jiří Procházka is back! UFC President Dana White kept his word and Jiri Prochazka will go straight into a fight with champion Jamahal Hill after recovering from a serious shoulder injury. The coach of the Moravian samurai Martin Karaivanov has now revealed three possible dates that the organization’s management is considering.
According to his coach, Procházka has three possible dates for his return to the cage
The Moravian samurai’s return to the cage has been resonating through the MMA scene in the Czech Republic for the last few days. Although the organization has not yet released a date for the title fight, his coach has now revealed some behind-the-scenes information.
When he announced the injury that prevented him from making his first title defense, he had to relinquish his UFC championship. However, the organization’s president Dana White promised him that as soon as he was medically fit, he would get a chance to fight for his title back.
It took more than half a year, but according to the latest reports, Jiri Prochazka is back and will indeed step straight into a title fight. The information was confirmed by his opponent Jamahal Hill, who revealed that he is already in talks with UFC management about a specific date.
Light into the unclear situation was then brought by Procházka’s coach Martin Karaivanov. “The situation regarding our fight hasn’t changed, Hill is still the opponent, we are still going for the title,” Karaivanov confirmed the champion’s words to Kaocko.cz.
“The only thing is that we are waiting for the date and the place, when there are three options in the game,” he offered some background information. “September Australia, October Abu Dhabi and November New York,” he revealed the three possible dates.
But the UFC already has a busy schedule of numbered tournaments
The first date Karaivanov mentioned is UFC 293, taking place Sept. 10 in Sydney, Australia. Given the location of the tournament, it is expected that New Zealander with Nigerian roots Israel Adesanya, who defeated his nemesis Brazilian Pereira in April, will defend his middleweight belt at the gala.
Another possibility is October’s UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi. That’s expected to feature a second title defense for Islam Makhachev, who, like his mentor Khabib Nurmagomedov, has a large fan base in the United Arab Emirates.
Then, in November, fans will be treated to a gala event in New York. That’s widely tipped to be the first heavyweight title defence for the legendary Jon Jones.
So you can see that most of the numbered have already booked their main event. UFC management thus has a tough task ahead of them to fit Prochazka’s return into an already busy schedule. The expected fight would certainly deserve to be the headliner of the gala.
