Club football is back, what to look forward to this weekend? Chelsea vs Arsenal, Merseyside derby or La Liga showpiece

The national break is over, club football is finally back on the scene. And what can we look forward to this weekend? In England, we will have two headliners on Saturday, and there will be an interesting match in La Liga as well.

Liverpool – Everton

Saturday’s programme and practically the whole weekend will kick off with the Merseyside derby. The duel between two teams from the same city promises a great atmosphere and rivalry, although both teams are at opposite ends of the table.

Liverpool are fourth and three points behind first-placed Spurs, while Everton are sixteenth and three points ahead of the first relegation place. Out of the last five matches between the two teams, the blue team managed to get one win and a draw, will they repeat that at Anfield?

Chelsea – Arsenal

From Liverpool we move to London tonight for another city derby. A struggling Chelsea and a continuing Arsenal will face each other.

The Blues have only 11 points from eight games and are only 11th, on the other hand they won twice before the break and are slowly starting to gain ground.

Arsenal have 20 points, just like first-placed Tottenham, and are only a score away from first place. They beat Manchester City in the last round and will therefore arrive at Stamford Bridge in good spirits.

Sevilla – Real Madrid

Let’s move to Spain, where the headliner of the round is the duel between Sevilla and Real Madrid. The Andalusians are languishing in 14th place in the table, which has seen coach José Luis Mendilibar sacked. New coach Diego Alonso will make his debut.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, dominate La Liga, winning eight of their nine games and have a two-point lead over second-placed Girona and three points over third-placed Barcelona. In addition, Sergio Ramos’ clash against Real Madrid’s “fresh” will be a spicy one.
