Chimaev is too good for everyone? After Prochazka, he’s taken on the champion Pereira or Covington
Khamzat Chimaev has been out of the media for a while, but in recent days he has been heard about again. First of all he commented on Jiri Prochazko, then he took a dig at the champion Alex Pereira and also Colby Covington.
Khamzat Chimaev has been out of the media for a while, but in recent days he has been heard about again. First of all he commented on Jiri Prochazko, then he took a dig at the champion Alex Pereira and also Colby Covington.
The undefeated Khamzat Chimaev is one of the UFC’s biggest prospects. He last fought in September when he defeated Kevin Holland. Since then, surprisingly, he hasn’t been heard from much. But that’s changed now.
The Swedish fighter with Chechen roots made an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s traditional The MMA Hour show and he wasn’t afraid of big words. First of all, he revealed that he has a video of him beating Jiri Prochazka in a sparring session.
In his own words, Chimaev doesn’t understand how Prochazka became UFC champion. To make matters worse, he announced that he would like to become the king of three weight classes. Specifically, welterweight, middleweight and welterweight.
Pereira? It would be the easiest fight of his career, Chimaev is clear
After the former champion of the welterweight division, he took a swipe at middleweight king Alex Pereira, who is facing a rematch with Israel Adesanya. He said he would beat the Brazilian fighter without any problems.
“It would be the easiest fight for me in the UFC, actually in my career. First round, first minute. Easy. He wouldn’t throw any punches. If Adesanya only trains wrestling in preparation, he will beat Pereira easily because he has zero wrestling,” Chimaev said.
According to Chimaev, the UFC protects Pereira and he says there are several fighters in the middleweight division who could beat the Brazilian.
Covington is a liar, I’m much better than him, says Swede
The welterweight division is also now deciding who should be the challenger. Leon Edwards has successfully defended his title and is next to be challenged by Colby Covington. That doesn’t sit too well with Edwards or the other welterweight stars.
Moreover, Covington has arrogantly postulated just about everyone he could. He even took a swipe at Chimaev, with whom he and he can’t agree on who is responsible for the failure of their match against each other. Of course, they blame each other.
Chimaev also claims that he did everything possible for the Covington fight. He believes it will be a very attractive and most importantly anticipated fight that fans will be looking forward to.
However, he now says again that the American would be an easy fight for him. Stylistically he is an easy opponent for me, I am a much better fighter than him. I also have a hard punch. He talks about his cardio, but how will he use it? How will he use it to take me down? He’s a little guy, he’s scared.”
