In the fourth minute, Nicolas Jackson had the opening chance of the match, but the African striker hesitated with his shot and the Spurs defence coped. From the edge of the box, Brennan Johnson and Alfie Gilchrist tried their luck, but both were inaccurate.
Chelsea were a little more active, but Mykhail Mudryk’s 22nd minute effort was not taken and the goalkeeper made the save. Two minutes later, the Blues were celebrating, with a header from stopper Trevoh Chalobah following a Conor Gallagher centre.
In the 32nd minute, the active Mudryk had a second goal but just missed the right post of Tottenham’s goal. On the other side, Cristian Romeo threatened with a header after a corner kick, but he didn’t get his head between the three posts either.
Tottenham’s final push didn’t lead to anything serious and the Blues went into the box with a 1:0 lead. And Spurs continued to be active after the change of sides, but Chelsea players were taking shots, so we can’t talk about pressure.
On the other hand, Cole Palmer was angry on the other side, first he missed the goal, then the defending players managed to block him. In the 63rd minute Spurs wasted two chances, Pedro Porro let Djordje Petrovic stand out, Yves Bissouma didn’t hit the net at all.
Ten minutes later, the game was decided. Palmer’s shot was still on the crossbar, but Jackson’s finish was better. In the end, Spurs still tried to reduce the deficit, but they couldn’t do anything good and lost against their city rivals.
Chelsea jumped to the eighth place after the 2:0 win, two points behind the TOP 7. Spurs are seven points behind the TOP 4 and the Champions League.
