Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are grinding their teeth! Bundesliga top scorer Guirassy has a buyout clause of just under €20m
The very idea of a €19.5 million release clause is enough to make a stir among London football clubs.
The very idea of a €19.5 million release clause is enough to make a stir among London football clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham could strike a bargain indeed. It would allow them to acquire a scoring ace in Serhou Guirassy.
Guirassy has literally become a scoring machine in the German Bundesliga this season. In his eight games, he has netted an impressive 14 goals, which has put him at the top of the scorers’ table. He even surpassed Harry Kane, who scored five fewer goals in the same number of games.
The Stuttgart striker has been one of the biggest surprises of the season since his transfer from Rennes at the start of the summer. The club paid just over €9 million for his services, which now appears to be one of the best investments in German football.
Guirassy’s rapid rise has not escaped the attention of several European football giants. And given that he has scored five more goals than Harry Kane, it is not surprising that Tottenham are among the clubs interested in his services in the upcoming transfer window.
The centre of the attack is now led by Heung-Min Son, as well as Brazilian Richarlison. The latter occupies this position in the national team, but neither of them is a classic striker like Guirassy.
Arsenal and Chelsea have been struggling for goalscorers recently and could well be looking for reinforcements. Both London clubs have also been linked with Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Pettenberg said the release clause for Guirassy in the winter transfer window is around €19.5 million. And that’s a sum for which a striker of his quality is hard to come by.
However, the player himself has also expressed interest in staying at Stuttgart in the January transfer window. The question is whether he will agree a contract extension with the club with a different clause in case of a significant increase in his wages.
