Even in the fourth round of the English Premier League there was a lot to see. Another United win, Chelsea’s turn in ten, Haaland’s first hat-trick in a Citizens jersey, Arsenal staying 100%, an absolute demolition at Anfield and much more…
Let’s start with a second win in a row for Manchester United. The Red Devils played an away game at Southampton. The game was more or less evenly matched and decided by a single 55th minute goal after a purely Portuguese set piece. Somewhat surprisingly, it did not feature Cristiano Ronaldo, who was still sitting on the bench at the time. It was Bruno Fernandes who scored beautifully, with a pass from Diogo Dalot.
Unlike their rivals, Liverpool were dealing with completely different things. United were worried about their points by the final whistle as they were leading by the narrowest possible margin. It was at Anfield that they were looking to add another goal and reach double figures. Yes, the game eventually ended in demolition and ignominy with a score of 9:0. Take a look at a quick round-up of all the goals.
Slowly but surely, Chelsea could be compared to Zlín. Another game and another red card, which is not pleasant. This unwanted wave seems to have been triggered by coach Thomas Tuchel himself, who received a red card after the final whistle in the derby with Tottenham in the second round.
Koulibaly did not play in the next game at Leeds. But there Chelsea did not do well at all and the extra time sending off came in the 84th minute. But this time it was much earlier, already in the 28th minute Gallagher saw his second yellow card and therefore a red card and the referee had no choice, judge for yourself. But this time the Blues managed to take the game to three points, with Sterling scoring twice.
Manchester City didn’t enter their match with Crystal Palace well at all. After a succession of mistakes and inaccuracies, the visitors got a direct kick from a promising position. From the centre, the ball dropped to the defending Stones, but he didn’t expect it and the ball bounced into his own net.
In the 21st minute, Andersen scored from a corner kick with a great header and it was 0:2. The score remained at half-time until the 53rd minute, when Silva reduced the deficit. Then the football match became a one man show. A clean hat-trick in 19 minutes was scored by Erling Haaland, the Norwegian hitman following in the footsteps of his father, who turned the game around to a final score of 4: 2.
The last moment to pick the round was Newcastle’s equalising goal by Allan Saint-Maximin. A beautiful shot from a volley from outside the penalty area meant the equaliser and, as it turned out later, a point. The Magpies were the slightly better team in the game, especially in the second act, it was played to one goal and the equaliser seemed well deserved. The hero of the moment was eventually substituted due to a thigh muscle problem.
