The Czech national team will have two qualifying matches, first against Wales and then against Belarus. Coach Jaroslav Šilhavy has to leave four injured players out of his nomination.
The national team met on Monday, with newcomer Jan Kuchta from Slavia joining the squad. But after one day together Jaroslav Šilhavý has to make more changes.
Due to health reasons, the quartet of Vladimir Coufal, Jan Bořil, Lukáš Masopust and Petr Ševčík will not be available. The West Ham player and the three Slavs have been struggling with injuries recently, which apparently have not fully healed.
They will be replaced in the national team by Milan Havel and Jan Kopic from Plzeň, Tomas Wiesner from Sparta and Jaromír Zmrhal from Slovan Bratislava.
All of them already have experience with the national team, Kopic is returning after a year, the other three players were members of the September reunion.
Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges will face Wales on Friday 8 October in Eden in Prague from 20:45. It will be a battle for the second place in the qualifying group, which guarantees participation in the barrier for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
The Czechs will face Belarus on Monday 11 October at a neutral ground in Kazan.
