The Czech national team did not have a very pleasant evening on Saturday. In their home match they failed to surprise the Portuguese and lost clearly 0:4. Moreover, from the first minutes a very tough match was played. The strikers on both sides were treated, Ronaldo’s nose was bleeding and Schick’s hand was accidentally crushed by Dias.
The series of injuries culminated in the twenty-second minute when, after gesturing towards the bench, Jakub Brabec had to withdraw due to a muscle injury and was replaced by Ondrej Kudel. After the match, it turned out that the injury would be of a more serious nature and the stopper from the Greek team Aris had to be withdrawn from the national team.
Already after the match coach Šilhavý announced possible changes in the squad. On Sunday, the official twitter account of the national team announced several changes. The midfielders Jakub Jankto, Lukáš Masopust and defender Jakub Brabec were separated from the team before the departure to Switzerland. They will be replaced by a trio of footballers, namely Ondřej Lingr, Lukáš Provod and defender Patrizio Stronati.
What is the experience of the three new recruits with the national team?
Ondřej Lingr has played in five matches for the Czech national team, in which he has so far scored no goals. The last time he was on the pitch was in the 0:1 loss against Sweden in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match.
Lukáš Provod returns to the national team after a long-term injury, when he was one of the mainstays of the team. He played in a total of 7 matches and scored one goal. The last time we saw him on the pitch was against Slovakia in 2020, when he played 22 minutes.
The last additional footballer nominated is Patrizio Stronati. The defender of the Hungarian Puskás Academy is still waiting for his first start in the Czech national team. He returns to the team after four years. He last watched from the bench in the 2-1 win against Slovakia in the 2018 UEFA Nations League.
The Czech national team will face a crucial game against Switzerland on Tuesday, which will determine who will remain in Group A of the UEFA Nations League. Will the three new national team players help coach Šilhavy’s selection?
