Nine goals, one assist. That’s Kai Havertz’s record in 47 competitive games this season. It’s all logically impossible to measure in numbers, but for the vast majority of the season spent on the tip of the attack, these are not overwhelming numbers.
Of course, all of this was helped by Chelsea’s big crisis, when the Blues couldn’t get going for several games in a row.
Havertz, however, has a huge talent in him, which he failed to develop at Stamford Bridge. After all, in the 2018/19 season at Leverkusen as an 18-year-old he netted 19 goals and added 6 assists, a year later he had an 18+9 record and was one of the biggest talents in the world, Chelsea shelled out €80 million for him.
But somehow he stuck around in a Blues jersey. He is reportedly looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge and lifelines are already being thrown at his feet. Real Madrid were the first to be interested, and there was talk of €60 million. Initially, the whole thing seemed agreed, but in the end the courtship fell through, quite possibly due to Real’s interest in Kane and Mbappe.
The new bidder, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, is Arsenal. However, the problem is the amount, Chelsea don’t want to sell to their rival and are asking for 87 million euros. At the moment, the Gunners will definitely not pay that.
However, according to Roman, Chelsea might lower the amount a bit as Havertz likes the transfer, which will help Arsenal a bit. However, Real Madrid are completely out of the game and will not even pay €60 million for Havertz at the moment.
For Arsenal, however, the priority is to strike a deal with West Ham, from where they are luring Declan Rice. The midfielder of the English national team should cost the Gunners around 100 million euros, but strengthening the midfield is absolutely crucial for Mikel Arteta.
