Nitto ATP Finals knows the composition of the groups. The green group seems to be the busiest, and not only because of Novak Djokovic. Who will the world number one face for the promotion and who can also be considered the favourite to advance to the next battles?

Novak Djokovic’s form is one of the constants of 2023. Despite only eleven tournaments he has participated in, he has defended his position as the world number one. He has won six tennis events. Of the Grand Slams this year, the thirty-six-year-old legend of the white sport is missing only a triumph at Wimbledon.

In the green group, the lot assigned him as opponents the domestic number one Sinner, the champion of the 2019 ATP Finals Tsitsipas and the comet of this year, Dane Rune. While there is no doubt about the favourite in this group, there will surely be a tough battle between the other players to reach the semi-finals.

Black horse Sinner

Italy’s Sinner is in fine-tuned form and will have no shortage of motivation in front of his home crowd. However, he has never beaten Djokovic before.

His record with Tsitsipas is also negative, but he beat him in their last match in February. Moreover, the Italian started to show his best later. He won three of this year’s four titles in the second half of the year.

Of course, something similar applies to the Greek tennis player. He overcame his form slump in prime time and reached the semi-finals three times in a row.

Apart from Sinner, he has a negative record against his other opponents in the regular group, but his chances cannot be underestimated at the moment.

Holger Rune secured his place in the ATP Finals at the last minute. This year he overcame a big summer crisis. The start of the cooperation with Boris Becker also helped him.

He comes to the final event in a situation where he has nothing to lose. A very nice starting position. And what’s more, the 20-year-old Dane has already beaten Djokovic this year.

Finally..

The green group seems to be the group of death for everyone except Djokovic. The ATP Finals brings a unique system in tennis and every match is a big event. In the match of the aforementioned foursome, this will be doubly true.
