Champions League will not visit Uherské Hradiště, Slovácko failed to win the qualification again
It won’t be a progression the second time around either. Last year Slovácko failed at Bordeaux and Bröndby, this year at FK Minsk and Breidablik. And again without a win, they finished fourth last in the tournament. The Champions League journey is over for the first Czech team, with Sparta and Slavia only getting into action in the last round.

It was already clear before the game that FK Minsk would not be an easy match. The Belarusian vice-champions are one of the best that local football has to offer and together with Dinamo Minsk they rule the domestic competition. Slovácko advanced to the Champions League preliminary round from third place, having lost an abysmal 15 points to second-placed Sparta.
The relatively even match was decided by the efficiency of the Belarusian side and especially their 18-year-old midfielder Anastasia Pobegaylova, who scored 23 goals in 15 league games and opened her scoring account in Norway. Half an hour into the game, the score was already 2-0 to Minsk after a goal by midfielder Milana Surovtseva, just a year older than her, and Slovácko had a difficult task ahead of them.
Although coach Petr Vlachovsky’s charges did not let their opponents do anything in the second half, they reduced the deficit in the 84th minute when Lucie Jelínková scored. As in the previous season, they had to play for the third place.
After Dubcova’s departure, the scorer is still missing
In it, they faced Icelandic runner-up Breidablik, who played the group stage of the Champions League last season. One point and a score of 0::18 doesn’t indicate a good performance, but they managed to do what Uherské Hradiště is still dreaming of.
The biggest weapon of the opponent should have been the nineteen-year-old striker Birta Georgsdottir, who scored three goals and assisted six in thirteen league games so far.
The Icelandic women made the positional match a clear-cut affair. Just like Slovácko’s previous opponent, they taught Vlachovský’s charges a lesson in efficiency. Both opponents managed to create similar chances, but Breidablik managed to score three times.
Helena Halfdanardottir scored a hat-trick to decide the bitter end for the team from Uherské Hradiště. Just like last season, Slovácko failed to win a match in the Champions League qualification and the fans will not be able to see a double representation.
