Celta Vigo vs. Real Madrid: Preview and betting tips

In the 30th round of the Spanish La Liga, the teams that failed to score in their last game before the national break will play each other. These are Celta Vigo and, surprisingly, Real Madrid, who were beaten 0:4 by Barcelona.

Celta Vigo is in 11th place in the league and their form is not good. Out of their last five league games, they have only won once, drawn twice and lost twice. With 36 points, they can’t think about the European Cup, but they don’t have to worry about relegation either.

Real Madrid dominate the entire Spanish league. With 66 points, it has a nine-point lead over second-placed Sevilla. They lost their last game 0:4, but before that they won four games in a row, in which they scored 11:1.

The home team would like to try and take advantage of Real Madrid’s hesitation with Barcelona. However, they will have a hard time doing so, as they have not been able to beat Real Madrid since May 2014. Since their last win over Real, they have only drawn twice and lost thirteen times in these encounters.

Celta’s last win over Real therefore dates back to 2014. Real Madrid have headed here seven times since then, scoring at least two goals each time. Once the match ended 2: 2, otherwise the White Ballet won six times. Looking at Benzema or maybe Vinicius, we can again expect the visiting team to push through.

The leading team in the Spanish La Liga has relied on its great defence this season, which has been in fantastic form on away grounds. They have only received 12 goals on their opponents’ pitches, with the average of the last seven games being just over half a goal.

The positive news for Real may be that Karim Benzema is returning. This player was missing against Barcelona and it took a big toll on his teammates. However, he is now available and would like to continue the great form he has against Celta Vigo, he has already scored five goals for this team on their pitch.

Real Madrid must atone for their last big defeat against Barcelona. The return of Karim Benzema will help them to make that happen. So we expect the away team to win.
