Celta Vigo took a dig at Real Madrid: On the occasion of Oscar, they recalled Ronaldo’s simulated fall

While the national break is underway, some clubs are already preparing for their return to the league turf. Like Spain’s Celta Vigo, who took a dig at Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo on Twitter.
Real Madrid will take on the Estadio Balaídos on Saturday at 18:30 after the national break. And Celta Vigo have already started to heat up the match by pulling out a moment from 2014.
The Galician club recalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s simulated penalty from their then-match at the Santiago Bernabéu that was incorrectly whistled. And why this moment?
Because the Oscars for Best Actor were being handed out at the weekend and Celta saw it as the perfect opportunity to recall the moment.
“It’s Oscars night, World Theatre Day and one week until the Celta-Real Madrid match. We had to remember it,” read an ironic tweet from Celta.
The match ended 3-0 to Real Madrid, with Ronaldo eventually scoring a hat-trick. Celta’s main goal was to get as many interactions as possible, which they did brilliantly. By Monday morning, the tweet had received over 41 thousand likes, the post had collected almost 2 and a half thousand comments.
