Captain Calabria: It’s one of the toughest groups in Champions League history! What’s wrong with AC’s game?
Two goalless draws – that’s exactly AC Milan’s record after two Champions League group stage matches. The Rossoneri drew at home with Newcastle, and now at Borussia Dortmund. What does AC captain Davide Calabria find wrong? What is the reason that the players in the red and black jerseys can’t make it?

A draw with Newcastle, also with Borussia Dortmund, third place in the Group F table and a score, let’s be honest, really miserable. Especially considering the fact how many chances the Rossoneri created in both games.
The point gained at Signal Iduna Park may not seem like a big loss, the three points should have been gained by Stefano Pioli’s charges in the opening game against Newcastle.
It was in this contest that AC were clearly the better side, producing several chances throughout the match. But the scoreboard remained at 0.
This is exactly the point loss that hurts the men of the famous Italian team so much at the moment. Or should definitely hurt. It was Newcastle who blasted PSG 4-1 at home on Wednesday and took the lead in Group F.
Another negative factor of the draw is that the Rossoneri have yet to play that unpleasant game at Newcastle. To make matters worse, they will travel to PSG in the next round.
One of the toughest groups in history!
After the match against Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan captain Davide Calabria spoke about the current situation. And apart from calling Group F one of the toughest in history, he answered the question of what is wrong with the Rossoneri’s game at the moment.
“This is one of the most difficult groups in the history of the Champions League,” Calabria said in a post-match interview with Amazon Prime Video Italia, also quoted by Football Italia.
“It’s difficult to talk in the heat of battle. I would rather wait, cool down and then analyse what happened. There were some technical errors and we have to be more clinical when we create those chances. You can’t waste so many at this level,” the AC captain is clear.
Now is not the time for mistakes. As we write above, next time the Rossoneri will travel to PSG, and there they will certainly not have an easy job.
