Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final, which started 37 minutes late due to a crowd riot outside the Stade de France in Paris. Singing superstar Camila Cabello earned the ire of football fans after she lashed out at them in a deleted tweet.
A long conquest of the Real Madrid goal did not result in a Liverpool goal. Brazilian Vinicius Junior headed Federico Valverde’s shot into the net from close range in the 59th minute to secure Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti’s record fourth European Cup title.
The kick-off had to be delayed for more than 35 minutes due to problems outside the stadium, where a large number of supporters were denied entry despite having tickets. Some supporters resorted to climbing over barriers to get into the stadium. However, police sprayed them with pepper spray and tear gas.
After the postponement, pop star Camila Cabello gave a pre-match performance in which she sang a medley of her songs. However, Cabello was performing inside the stadium at the same time as several Liverpool and Real Madrid fans were still trying to get into the Stade de France.
In addition, fans inside the stadium could be heard chanting team anthems during her six-minute performance.
Immediately after her performance, she took to Twitter to attack the fans in attendance. Though she later deleted her tweets, once it hits the internet, it stays on the internet.
While Cabello received a huge amount of support for her performance, she also seemed to piss off many fans with her message.
Many claimed that none of the football fans were curious about her musical performance. While others claimed that the scenes outside the stadium overshadowed those inside.
