Cameron Norrie is a 26-year-old tennis player from Great Britain. He is currently ranked eleventh in the ATP rankings. However, by reaching the semi-finals he has secured his return to the top ten. If he manages to dominate the whole tournament, he would even move up to the eighth position.
However, Norrie’s performance at the start of the week was less than ideal. With both Holger Run and Andy Murray, the match had to be decided in the third set. In the eighth round, he had no major difficulties against home hope Ben Shelton and in the quarter-finals he scored his first scalp against Carlos Alcaraz.
His opponent on Saturday night will be Borna Coric, currently 152nd in the ATP rankings. However, the Croatian tennis player’s slump is due to a break of more than a year caused by health complications.
After his return to the courts, the 25-year-old Čorić did not fare well. He lost eight of his opening ten matches of the 2022 calendar year. His most significant success came in Parma, where he was undefeated. Since then, his performances have stabilized.
In Cincinnati, he took on Musetti, Nadal, Bautista and Auger-Aliassime in succession. Although he has been the underdog in all his matches, he has not lost a set so far. The key to his success is his excellent serve, he has already recorded 43 aces in the tournament.
This will be the third match between these players. The two matches played so far have offered only two sets, with each player winning once. Norrie is the paper favourite, but if Čorić can build on his previous performances, he should be the one to enjoy advancing to the final.
