Thirty-year-old midfielder Aldin Cajic has ended his stay with Turkish side Istanbulspor, which he had been with for five and a half years. The Bosnian midfielder is now sorting out his future and will most likely stay in Turkey. Göztepe, a second league club, is interested in him.
Aldin Cajic belonged to Turkish Istanbulspor for five and a half years. In that time he managed to play 125 games, scoring 27 goals. He spent the 2020/21 season on loan at another Turkish club, Tuzlaspor, whom he tried to help advance to the top flight, but failed.
After the end of his loan spell at Tuzlaspor, he returned to his native Istanbulspor, with whom he eventually saw promotion to the Süper Lig last season. The former Teplice midfielder contributed to this success with three goals.
Unfortunately, his position in the top flight changed after the arrival of summer reinforcements and he made sporadic appearances. He only played in eight league games, in which he spent only 123 minutes on the pitch.
Istanbulspor are facing a fight for salvation in the spring season as they are currently in eighteenth place. However, Cajic will not be there anymore as he agreed to terminate his contract in January.
The skilful midfielder is now sorting out his future and the first interested parties have already applied for his services. The former Dukla Prague midfielder would like to be acquired by Turkish second league side Göztepe.
The club from Izmir is in tenth place, four points behind the playoffs for the top flight. The management of Göztepe would like to return to the Süper Lig and wants to strengthen its squad for the spring season.
The experienced Cajic has made a very good name for himself during his six-year stint in Turkey. The player himself is happy in Turkey and is not opposed to staying. According to the Turkish media, he likes Göztepe’s plan and is now negotiating with the club’s management about the terms of his contract.
Čajić’s services are also reportedly being sought in his native Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 30-year-old midfielder would consider this option if the engagement in Turkey does not work out.
