Cagliari vs. Salernitana: Preview and betting tips

Cagliari hosts Salernitana in the preliminary round of round 14. Penultimate to last, a disappointing season with a newcomer, either way, this is an extremely important match in the fight for salvation.

Cagliari are not doing well at all this season. A couple of years back the cup adept is penultimate and is four points behind the non-relegation positions. In the first thirteen rounds it has won only once and drawn four times.

Salernitana are in the same position. It is last by a score, but that is expected of it as an inexperienced newcomer. It has lost its last three games and is further and further away from the salvation waters.

A longtime mainstay and team captain, Brazilian forward João Pedro has scored eight goals and assisted on two. Romanian central midfielder Razvan Marin boasts a 1+3 record, while the rest of the squad is already goalless.

Federico Bonazzoli is the newcomer’s top scorer, hitting twice in league and cup. Captain Franck Ribéry, at thirty-eight, is still making regular appearances, with two assists to his name.

Cagliari have struggled in attack, scoring only four goals in their last five games. Salernitana’s offense is also struggling and they have not scored a goal in three games.

Considering Salernitana’s long-term crisis in attack, I think Cagliari will win.
