On Wednesday, besides the MOL Cup and EFL Cup, Serie A is also on the schedule. AC Milan can take the top spot as they take on Cagliari. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Cagliari have started the season in a terrible way, they have not won once out of five rounds and the balance of two draws and three losses means that they are in the relegation zone. The only team currently worse is last-placed Empoli, who don’t have a point yet.
AC, on the other hand, apart from the undefeated derby with Inter Milan, is 100 percent, having won on the hot ground of AS Roma. 12 points are enough for second place, just a point behind leader Inter. In the Champions League, it started with a draw against Newcastle.
Cagliari’s key figures
The home side’s squad is struggling, with potential marked by twenty-one-year-old Angola international Zito Luvumbo, who scored once and assisted once from the top of the attack. More is expected in midfield from Uruguayan Nahitan Nandez.
AC’s key figures
The ageless Olivier Giroud reigns supreme at the tip of the visiting offensive, he has been on an incredible seven goals (3+4). Rafael Leao has been a threat from the left wing, with the Portuguese speedster striking three times and assisting twice.
Prediction
Cagliari are extremely troubled defensively, scoring a single goal in five rounds, only last-placed Empoli are worse in this respect, they haven’t scored a goal. Cagliari has scored more than once in only one of the last eight games.
AC, on the other hand, builds on a solid defence, scoring more than once in only one of the last six games. Fikayo Tomori, a member of the England national team, commands the defence, with the experienced Theo Hernandez on the left.
Considering the completely different defensive shape of the two teams and the factor of the Giroud – Leao pairing, which has experience, speed and killer instinct, I expect Milan to beat the big outsider away.
Betting tip l AC Milan win
