Butler had his first triple-double in two years
In the game Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs (116:104) Jimmy Butler was one of the central figures of his team, who after more than two years again knew what it is like to record a triple-double. He scored 17 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and recorded 11 assists in the game.
Overall, this is his 16th such feat in his career and he has already matched the likes of Basketball Hall of Fame members Kevin Garnett and Jerry West in the NBA history charts. No one on Miami’s team excelled at shooting, but rather it was a collective performance that resulted in five players reaching double-digit points.
On the Spurs’ side, Vicror Wembanyama traditionally reigned supreme on the rebounding end, adding 19 points. Until the end of the third quarter, San Antonio could even think about winning in a balanced game. However, in the last quarter, the home team took the shooting game into their own hands and the result was an 11-point difference in this passage of the game.
Cleveland continues its winning streak thanks to Mitchell
In the game Washington Wizards vs Cleveland Cavaliers (106:114) the visitors were the clear favourites. The Wizards are the second worst team this season after the Pistons, but they did not give up without a fight at the Capital One Arena.
Washington bravely resisted for three quarters before running out of breath at the end of the game and the Cavaliers confirmed their role as the favourite. The star of the night was Donovan Mitchell, who broke the 40-point mark for the second time this season. He also added 8 rebounds and 5 assists. With his great performance he is already close to the 29 points per game mark this season.
In the last 16 games, there is no better team than Cleveland. He has not lost a single game in this period and continues to consolidate his second position in the Eastern Conference behind Boston.
Mitchell is in his second season with the Cavaliers, having previously spent his entire career with the Utah Jazz and recorded his 18th 40-point performance in his 108th regular season appearance. The Wizards were kept in the game for a long time by the duo of Kuzma and Poole, but the team’s shooting accuracy went away in the final quarter, which Cleveland used to their advantage to take home their 33rd win of the season.
